On October 9th, 2023, the Department of National Parks and Wildlife and Conservation South Luangwa rescued a 10-month-old elephant calf who had been alone for five days. Lion Camp Zambia monitored the calf to see if his mother or herd would return, but after a few days, it became clear that he had been abandoned.
